My name is Emilia — London born and bred (with a proper accent and everything), now proudly calling Texas, the Lone Star State, home. My business first came to life on the East Coast in 2012 as a simple spark of an idea. By 2014, that spark had traveled west with me to Las Vegas, Nevada, where it truly found its name, its personality, and became The Artsy Files. Let's start at the very beginning, a very good place to start...
I started my business over a decade ago as a photographer, and photography is my passion, but I found myself taking out my camera less and less due to the weight of it (with my preferred lens attached) which was contributing to back pain. I started focusing less on photo shoots and more on post-processing, and found that I actually preferred creating behind the scenes. I started creating toolkits to speed up my editing workflow such as Photoshop actions, Lightroom presets, overlays, textures, clipart, and brushes. Essentially, all the tools needed for the effects I wanted. In other words, the tools and resources that other photographers, designers, and creatives could also use as part of their editing process, too. But...
Ever since planning my own wedding, I’ve been utterly smitten with all things weddings. At the time, I confidently announced (to anyone who would listen) that I was definitely going to become a wedding planner. Spoiler alert: life had other plans — but the love affair stuck. One day, for reasons known only to the wedding gods, I found myself casually tinkering with a wedding program. No deadline. No request. Just vibes. As I poked around, I noticed something curious: some programs had this information, others had that information, but none of them had all the information. Why should a couple have to choose between “Who’s who” and “What’s happening” on their big day? So I created a delightfully overachieving, eight-page wedding program bursting with everything a curious guest (or overly enthusiastic aunt) could want to know— details about the upcoming nuptials, the honeymoon, the couple’s love story, and yes, even a peek into their early childhood. Because why not? And just when I thought I was done, I thought, but what about color? So I designed the exact same program in 40 different shades, inspired by both classic and modern wedding hues. Because love comes in many colors, and so should your wedding program.
Then came my fascination with names for walls or frames, and digital art in general. Names you usually spot in a baby’s nursery, but honestly, just as perfect for toddlers, teens, and grown-ups who still love fun things. Whimsical and artsy, created as ready-to-use files designed to be printed, framed, hung, journaled with, scrapbooked, and enjoyed in just about any creative way you can think of. It was going to be my next project. And so began, The Artsy Files.
